Ilhan Abdi, Water Spirit
Ilhan previously appeared in Apple Time (2018-2019). In The Deaf Tempest, she brings strong dance, puppetry, and playful character work to the stage. Outside of theatre, she enjoys
socializing and connecting with the Deaf community.​

Mustafa Alabssi, Prospero
Mustafa is a Deaf actor and director from Syria who has called Canada home since 2016. His experience includes Apple Time (2018-2019), The Madcap Misadventures of Mustafa (2021), 100 Years of Darkness (2024), The Light of the Deep (2025), Netflix series Black Summer (2019) and the film Fable Deaf
(2022). In The Deaf Tempest, he plays Prospero and is
excited to be making his directorial debut.

Chinonso Ferdinand-Iwu, Antonio
Making his stage debut in The Deaf Tempest, Chinonso values the strong support the cast shares as they work toward a common goal. He embraces the challenge of thinking outside the box and using his body to convey a message. Outside of theatre, he enjoys creativity, meaningful conversations, and discovering new perspectives.

Oscar Grodecki, Land Spirit & Sailor
Oscar has been involved with Deaf Crows Collective
since its inception in 2016. He appeared in Deaf Crows (2016/2017) and played Jasper in the award-winning short film Fable Deaf (2022). A proud Deaf actor from Regina, he brings strong physical theatre and dance to the stage.​

Dakota (Kota) Halushka, Wind Spirit
Dakota (Kota) makes her stage debut in The Deaf Tempest. She is drawn to movement, enjoys the challenge of staying fully in character, and the playful, collaborative environment of the
ensemble. Kota is especially excited by the company’s decision to take on Shakespeare without spoken or signed language, ensuring everyone is involved regardless of level of deafness.

Violet Huynh, Land Spirit
Violet will be taking the stage for her performance debut in The Deaf Tempest, embracing acting through gesture and physical expression. In her spare time, she’s always looking for more ways to have fun through new experiences.

Isaac Marsden, Trinculo & Sailor
Isaac makes his theatrical debut in The Deaf Tempest. He has enjoyed learning movement, costume design, and exploring creative ways to use body language on stage — even adding his
own physical tricks to the performance. Outside of theatre, he is athletic, loves to dance, and enjoys socializing within the Deaf community.

Matty Molloy, Ariel
Matty appears on stage for the first time in The Deaf Tempest. She loves dance and expressive movement, bringing a calm, artful quality to her performance as Ariel. Outside of theatre,
she enjoys dance, acting, art, and spending time with her daughters.

Fatima Nafisa, Miranda
Fatima has appeared in Deaf Crows and Apple Time (2018/2019), as well as The Madcap Misadventures of Mustafa (2021), and the film Fable Deaf (2022). In spite of her self-admitted aversion to romance, Fatima will be pushing
herself creatively by exploring themes of love in her role as Miranda.

Mustafa Seefan, Ferdinand
During his on-stage debut in The Deaf Tempest, Mustafa will be immersing himself in his role. He enjoys connecting real emotion to the character and adding creative details that strengthen each scene. The fun and energy of full cast rehearsals has been a highlight for him. Fun fact! He has broken the same foot three times — twice during this production.

Adyson Senger, Caliban
Making his stage debut in The Deaf Tempest, Adyson brings strong movement and presence to this visual adaptation of Shakespeare. Outside of theatre, Adyson enjoys sports, martial
arts, coding, anime, and learning new skills.

Shayla-Rae Tanner, Queen Alonsa
A Hard of Hearing actor from Cowessess First Nation, Shayla-Rae has been part of Deaf Crows Collective since 2016. Her credits include Apple Time (2018/2019) and The Madcap Misadventures of Mustafa (2021). Whether on stage or travelling with family and friends, she values growth and the
confidence that comes from stepping outside her comfort zone.

Kainat Wahid, Sabine
Kainat has appeared in Apple Time (2018/2019), as well as The Madcap Misadventures of Mustafa (2021). Drawn to movement, puppetry, and acting, she is especially fascinated by the visual storytelling at the heart of The Deaf Tempest.
